(Backwards) Belt Squeal Diagnosis & Fix After Repair
If your serpentine belt is squealing after having work done that required it being removed, it may be on "backwards" in that it had a wear pattern going the other way and now it must re-chew the belt seat the other way, which will reduce the life of the belt. I also "diagnose" the belt being the problem by pouring some water on it while the engine is running. This was done on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon after having a new water pump installed at the dealership at approximately 57,000 miles.
