Painting Lisa's & Shampooing Her Carpets Condensed Footage

Published on Jul 29, 2012
Helping Lisa Paint and shampoo her carpets at her house in Grayling. We started this on Thursday evening 07/26/2012 and completed it (except for some touch-ups) on Sunday morning 07/29/2012. We worked right through the local parade, which went by her house. I painted her extra room with some left-over paint. Not a good seal, just spreading a thin coat instead of trying to get the existing flat clean via washing. We used semi-gloss on all rooms. The living room took 2 coats and still could've taken another. The walls were thirsty, probably due to the chalky flat they had on them. So, that's 4 of 7 rooms in her place made like new. I still have some touching up to do on her bathroom, like repairing a small gash we made re-installing the medicine cabinet and re-cutting in some weak spots. But the overall job looks good. The bathroom is really awesome now and her common areas are prettier than they were when she moved in (yeah, I'm a pretty good painter). Lisa did the black accents on her bathroom hardware. It was her idea. She used some of my van touch-up spray paint. I messed them up for her when I grinded the new blinds for fitting and she had to repaint them.
The overall cost for materials was approximately $140, including the blinds. Then the carpet cleaner costed $30 for the day rental, plus the cost of the cleaning solution, which was about $15. So we did this all for less than $200, plus our manhours, which would've varied in cost depending on the contractor (had we hired-out). Someone good, like me, usually costs more but is worth the expense in the long run. Hacks come cheaper, but so is the quality of their work.

The song I used for the montage is my new PrimeEvi demo entitled "Monkey", which is about addiction.
